The Amalfi Coast

Firing up this blog again to share photos from my recent trip to Europe! I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to the Amalfi Coast and Amsterdam (more to come on that) for work at the end of October. I led a press trip to one of the properties my team at Hue & Cry represents called Casa Angelina, a stunning 39-room whitewashed hotel located in the town of Praiano. All of the rooms at the hotel boast jaw-dropping views of the coastline. As you’ll see in some of the photos below, the large white windows frame the view perfectly, making it appear as if the view is a piece of art. By the end of my visit, I’m sure the staff was sick of hearing me constantly comment on how incredible the view was. It was impossible for me not to express my appreciation for the view every time I walked by one of those windows!

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably noticed I was having a very good time, but I was still working – I swear! Four US journalists based in Europe joined me at the property for three days to experience the property firsthand. The majority of media need to experience the property before they are able to write about it. The journalists that joined me write for publications including Condé Nast Traveler, Departures, Travel + Leisure, Vogue.com, Monocle, Red magazine, Fathom, among others.

Everyone was so lovely. We enjoyed meals together, a boat ride along the coast, lunch in Positano at Chez Black, the list goes on! We were very spoiled during our visit to Casa Angelina, making it quite difficult to return back to the grind of NYC.

My favorite part of Casa Angelina – by far – was the view of the sunset each night. The sunsets there were like nothing I have ever seen before. My mom loved watching the sunset from the beach whenever we visited Florida, so I always think of her whenever I watch a sunset now.

Chartering a boat is an absolute must if you ever visit the Amalfi Coast. The view from the water gives you a completely different perspective of the region.

My New Favorite Print

First of all, apologies for the radio silence over here! I’ve really fallen off the radar…

I received the greatest package last week from Modern Map Art, a print of Minneapolis! Numerous cities have captured my heart over the years, making it very difficult to decided which city to select for my print. Ultimately, I decided upon Minneapolis because I am obsessed with anything Minnesota. I’ve actually found it comforting to located familiar places on the map like Lake Calhoun, Sebastian Joes and others while I’m thousands of miles away in NYC.

I highly recommend checking out Modern Map Art‘s website. They have prints, phone cases and even pillows. I’ve included below the other prints I was debating between. 🙂 The prints are also available in a few other color combinations.

Goodbye to 2016

In 2016, I entered a new year as a college graduate,

spent a majority of the winter with family in Minnesota while figuring out my next step,

experienced Chicago without the stress of class or internships,

drove from Minnesota to Florida and back with my dad for Charli’s spring break,

moved out of my college apartment of two years and said goodbye to Chicago friends,

followed my dream and moved to New York City (without a job…),

spent two amazing months exploring NYC while jobless,

attended Rebecca Minkoff’s New York Fashion Week show,

accepted a position as a public relations account coordinator at Hue & Cry where I have been extremely happy the past four months,

moved into my first NYC apartment in October,

watched Georgi and the Crusaders in an unbelievable game at Valpo over the Thanksgiving weekend,

was in awe of New York’s Christmas decoration displays

The Holiday Season in NYC & MN

Happy holidays! Sharing a few photos from all the holiday festivities in NYC and Minnesota this December.

New York takes decorating for Christmas to a level I have never experienced before. I was blown away by the size of the Rockefeller Christmas tree along with the lights display at Saks. All so magical! And as always, it was so great to be home for ten days. Can’t believe it’s already time to head back!

Constantly re-falling in love with this city…

This past weekend was so so good. One of those where you smile while reflecting on each memorable bit before turning off the light on Sunday night. My friends and I had a list of activities on our to-do list leading into the weekend, one being a visit to the New Museum on the Lower East Side to check out the Pipilotti Rist exhibition. To be honest, I did not know anything about the exhibition before checking it out.. We had seen photos all over Instagram of people in an amazing light display, so obviously, we had to go get a photo for ourselves. We are a perfect example of how powerful social media can be to a brand.

I think I can speak for my friends and myself when I say that we were a bit taken aback when we entered the first floor of the three-story exhibition. There were multimedia projects, hanging sheets and a large projected film. I don’t know what we were expecting, but it wasn’t that. I ended up loving how interactive each floor was – lots of cool opportunities to interact with each piece (and a great photo opportunity or two hehe).

Our favorite floor ended up being the very floor we made the trip to the museum for. The hanging lights were mesmerizing as they slowly changed colors. If only I could hang those lights from my bedroom ceiling!

Now having read about Pipilotti Rist and her work, I would love to go back to the museum for a fresh experience. I definitely recommend going, just be sure to read up on the exhibition first and have plenty of time to lounge and watch each multiple piece numerous times!

We rounded out our afternoon with Sweets by CHLOE. Its the cutest little place to pop into for a dessert and coffee. Also, the branding is perfection (see the napkin below). My lovely model enjoyed a lemon raspberry cupcake, and I stuffed my face with a chocolate chip cookie. I definitely recommend trying the cookie – it’s not quite as good as Levian, but it is a close second.

Ozoku and My First Piece of Coverage!

Hello, hello! I am writing this post in my new apartment – woot woot! My roommates and I are very happy with our space and the location. There are plenty of restaurants right outside our door and multiple train lines nearby. This location is a big change from where I was living on The Upper East Side. There is an ice cream shop, laundromat and hardware store steps from my apartment.

Work has been great as well! Royalton, one of the hotels we represent at Hue & Cry, is running a pop-up sushi restaurant called Ozoku until the end of the year. The menu features a variety of poke dishes which have been at the top of food trend lists this year.

My project a couple of weeks ago was to secure coverage of the restaurant in local publications. I successful secured a review of Ozoku, which also happened to be my first piece of secured coverage!  I scheduled a reservation for an editor at IN New York to dine at Ozoku, and she wrote a great review following her meal. Check it out here!

I also received interest to cover Ozoku from Samantha Yanks, Editor in Chief of Gotham Magazine. She shared the below photo on her personal Instagram page. The team was very happy with this as she is the EIC of a reputable magazine and she has over 20k followers on Instagram.
